As the monetary worth of milk fat grows, so does the pay price for the per hundredweight of milk. But what number is more important for a dairy farm’s income – milk fat percentage or milk yield? No EU milk production recovery in 2023 - report

EU milk production is not expected to recover in 2023, according to the European Commission's most recent short-term outlook. Feed quality and availability and the heat body stress impacted negatively also milk fat and protein content. From January to July, they recorded even stronger drops than the production (-1.2% in both cases, while EU milk deliveries dropped by 0.5%). This implies a lower availability of milk solids for processing, and thus contributing to an already worsened dairy production outlook.
December Milk Price Futures Start to Look Concerning

Thursday’s spot dairy auction was a mixed bag. Block cheese gained a quarter of a penny to $2.0550/lb. Barrel cheese was up 1.50 cents to $2.2150. Whey increased 3.25 cents to $0.4425. Butter held still at $3.1850. Nonfat Dry Milk fell 2.50 cents to $1.50/lb.
