Milk Prices Slip Lower

In the CME spot dairy auction, blocks held steady at $1.9000 per pound, with zero lots trading. Barrels decreased to $1.8900 per pound, down two cents, with two loads changing hands. Butter eased to $2.5075 per pound, with five lots exchanged. NDM fell to $1.8425 per pound, giving up $0.0025, with three loads trading. Dry whey increased to $0.8675 per pound, gaining a penny to reach a new all-time high. Two lots changed hands.

 Class III milk futures were lower on the day. February decreased 11 cents to $20.69/cwt. March milk slide 26 cents to $21.67. 2022 class IV milk futures were higher on the day. March did not trade on the day. April traded just 9 times to $23.76/cwt. June and July traded around 50 times each.

 

The grain market was mixed ahead of the USDA February WASDE report Wednesday at 11:00 am central time. March corn gave up 3 cents to $6.3225/bushel. March soybeans declined 12.75 cents to $15.69/bushel. March soybean meal tacked on $1.30 to $454.10/ton. March Chicago Wheat jumped a dime to $7.7875/bushel.

 

 

 

 

 

The livestock sector was varied also. April live cattle dropped 22 cents to $146.17/cwt. March feeder cattle surged $1.85 to $166.87/cwt. April lean hogs added $2.62 to $103.80/cwt. March crude oil receded $1.53 to $89.79/barrel.
