Dairy farming

The decision which was endorsed at the recent Annual General Meeting is to ensure the board is better-placed to make decisions for the region’s dairy farmers. Dairy NSW will be calling for applications for the new skills-based board in the coming weeks.
As a part of the transition Michael Perich, from Bringelly, was appointed as the new chair with Simone Jolliffe, from Euberta, appointed as the deputy chair. Both are dairy farmers and existing members of the Dairy NSW board.
“I am looking forward to the challenges that come with being the chair of Dairy NSW and the chance to implement the new structure for the benefit of the region’s farmers,” Michael said.
Departing board members, Joe Chittick and Leanne Alley, leave after nine and six years service respectively, Joe having served the last five years as chairman and Michael thanks them for their dedication.
“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank both Leanne and Joe for their invaluable contributions to Dairy NSW and the wider dairy community”, Michael said. “I have worked with them over the past six years and their work has ensured we are in a solid position for the future.”
A selection committee will now oversee and determine director nominations to the board. They will be searching for candidates that are skilled in areas such as corporate governance and business affairs, dairy farming systems and agronomy. Applications for the new board positions will be advertised shortly.
The recent AGM also saw a new constitution voted in. The new constitution allows for the skills-based board to be appointed and brings it in line with new legislative requirements. For more information please click here.
